Protein Fruit Drink

There are many benefits to be had by making your own protein fruit drinks. First, by making your own drinks you can reduce the amount of money spent. Additionally, you are not confined by a few options. When making your own protein drinks your options are only as limited as your imagination.

The Many Benefits of Protein Drinks

Protein fruit drinks have the great benefit of providing you both protein and all of the essential vitamins and minerals you get from eating fruits. It is an easy way to get between 1 and 3 fruit servings per drink, depending on the recipe you use.

The basics of a protein fruit drink are protein powder (either soy or whey protein powders are available at most grocery stores) and the fruits of your choice. Other things you will probably like to add include low-fat yogurt and fruit juice.

A Simple Recipe to Try

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup cleaned and sliced strawberries
  • 1/2 cup of orange juice
  • 1/4 cup of vanilla yogurt
  • Protein Powder

After blending the fruit, juice and yogurt in a blender you can add the desired amount of protein powder and give it one last mix. If you plan to add a lot of protein powder you should also add additional juice. You may need to play with the proportions to get the best mix depending on the powder you use.

After mixing all of the ingredients it is best to let the drink sit in a refrigerator for an hour or two before consuming. This allows for the protein powder to absorb more moisture and lets the drink get nice and cold. An easy way to do this is to make your drink before bed, refrigerate it over night and drink it with breakfast.
