Healthy Fruit Smoothie
A healthy fruit Smoothie is a great (and easy!) way to get your fruits and vegetables into your daily diet. Even kids love them, so you can sneak their nutrition in and they drink up willingly and even beg for more. Fruit smoothies are a big favorite among kids and adults alike and the variations are endless. Some examples of a healthy fruit smoothie are:
Blueberry Bonanza Smoothie
1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup plain yogurt (or vanilla) 1 cup frozen blueberries (if using fresh, add some ice to the blender!) 1 tsp. honey (please do not give children under 1 year honey)
Blend in blender and there you have it! Delicious and healthy!
Banana Berry Smoothie
1 cup milk 2 bananas 2 cups strawberries, rinsed and hulled. 1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
Place everything in the blender and there you have it! Kids love this one!
Banana Smoothie
1 cup milk 1 ripe banana 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract 3-4 ice cubes
Put in blender and blend until smooth. Bananas are high in potassium and very good for you!
Really, the variations of healthy fruit smoothies are endless. Use your imagination and whatever you have in your fruit drawer. I bet you come up with some great smoothie recipes all on your own. All you need is fruit, milk or yogurt, and ice and you can combine different flavors in countless different ways. Try using flavored yogurts for an extra oomph in flavor! Or drizzle in some chocolate syrup as a delicious healthy fruit smoothie treat! Bananas and chocolate are a great combination, as are strawberries and chocolate. If you like things sweet and want to make it healthier, drizzle in some honey. You can even add peanut butter for a protein addition that packs a punch.
